Lucy, the line about saving PDFs instead of lives made me laugh, though there's something rather sad about it too. I especially liked your point about younger people being expected to judge work they've never had the chance to do themselves. How are they supposed to develop that judgment? And that third question in the Odyssey Plan is probably the hardest. We spend so much time worrying about what others think that we sometimes forget what we actually want.
For me it is a relief to remember that others lives does not depend on my job. This is the real responsibility. About the judgment I completely agree, on one hand we praise it now everywhere (like if humans never make mistakes) but on the other hand it is really an aspect that AI won’t be able to fully replicate. That will be certainly a challenge for younger generations to resist relying on AI and work on their judgment, self-criticism and get the right level of independence in the future.
Lucy, I agree that judgment remains our responsibility. I see AI as a tool that can help us fill gaps in our knowledge, not something that should decide our goals for us. It can offer possibilities, but we still have to know what we're trying to achieve and take responsibility for the choices we make.
